The Monday Sweet Spot – 05/02/2016
We’ve all hit that point during a smoke, usually about half way through, in which the cigar’s flavors and aromas open up and transform the experience into something far more rich, complex, and enjoyable.
In this moment, gentlemen, you’ve hit the “sweet spot”.
A moment that encourages you to open your senses, and to truly appreciate the experience that the smoke has ushered you into.
In the same way, it’s important to take time in our lives to slow down, and open our senses to the world around us. To take notice of the good things going on and the good people doing them.
These are life’s “sweet spots”, and your Monday could use one…
What This Garbage Man Said to a Little Girl Completely Made Her Day
It started with a wave.
Then, on every Thursday that followed, a little girl named Brooklyn eagerly awaited a friendly greeting from her “favorite awesome smiley garbage man.”
For her birthday, Brooklyn’s family decided to greet Delvar the garbage man with a cupcake at the curbside of their home in Bloomington, Indiana.
When he arrived, Brooklyn’s mom told Delvar how much they appreciate his weekly honks and waves.
Delvar said that he, too, looks forward to their encounters and leaves his morning meetings in a hurry so that he can make sure to see them.
He revealed that he didn’t have any kids of his own, but mentors several children and just loves them.
Later that day, as Brooklyn’s mom drove her to daycare, the child said, “Mommy, I’m so happy.”
Brooklyn’s mom passed along a message for Delvar that was shared on Facebook:
“Thank you for the joy that you bring Brooklyn every Thursday morning, for making her birthday special, and for making my heart happy. It may be a little thing that you do, but it means so much to us! Thanks, Delvar, for your kindness and your service to the City!”
