The Monday Sweet Spot – 10/19/2015

We’ve all hit that point during a smoke, usually about half way through, in which the cigar’s flavors and aromas open up and transform the experience into something far more rich, complex, and enjoyable.

In this moment, gentlemen, you’ve hit the “sweet spot”.

A moment that encourages you to open your senses, and to truly appreciate the experience that the smoke has ushered you into.

In the same way, it’s important to take time in our lives to slow down, and open our senses to the world around us. To take notice of the good things going on and the good people doing them.

These are life’s “sweet spots”, and your Monday could use one…

Dad Captures Special Moment Between
2-Day-Old Daughter and Great Grandma

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but there’s no denying that this one is worth so much more.

Scott Martin is a first-time father who lives in Washington State with his wife Jen and their precious newborn daughter. A photo of their baby girl Penelope at just 2 days old has quickly gone viral since Martin posted it to entertainment, networking, and news sharing website Reddit.

However, it’s not Penelope’s cuteness that has the internet freaking out over the adorable photo. In the photo, baby Penelope is staring into the eyes of her great-grandmother Millie Martin, who has 92 years on the tiny newborn…and I guarantee one look will make you melt, too.

Martin told BuzzFeed that he’s very close with his grandmother and having her meet his daughter was a very special occasion for the new father. “They just stared at each other for a while, it was like they knew each other,” he said. He also told them the day they met was especially emotional, because it would have been Millie’s 71st wedding anniversary with Martin’s grandfather, who sadly passed away in August.

Surprisingly, this isn’t the first time the newborn has found viral fame. Months back, we shared this amazing story of the unborn baby clapping her hands in a 14-week ultrasound, which you can see again below.

As heartbreaking as death is, new life always comes with it. For this family, the circle of life couldn’t have been more beautiful.
