Right outside of Orlando, there’s a small (but quickly growing), city by the name of Clermont, FL.

Home to a National Training Center, some of Central Florida’s only hills (or so it seems), and the 11th best donut shop in america, Clermont has a little bit of everything to offer. But last Saturday, an addition was made to this budding suburb that holds a special place in our hearts here at the Modern Day Gentleman.

Under the leadership of Jeff Borysiewicz, founder of the Corona Cigar Company, on June 4th, 2016, a tobacco farm by the name of “Florida Sun Grown” opened its gates for the very first time.
This marks the first time tobacco has been grown in Florida since back in 1977, when the industry left the sunshine state due to a variety of market and consumer changes. We couldn’t be more thrilled that Corona is taking the helm as it returns the romance and class of this long practiced art back to our state.

This farm is the finished product of a project many years in the making for Jeff and his team, and the tobacco being grown in their fields is already being used in the production of a line of fine cigars.

These cigars, appropriately named the “Florida Sun Grown”, are being crafted by the fine gentlemen over at Drew Estate cigars. We have long had a deep love for the tasty sticks that Drew Estate produces. They offer an extensive variety of choices that are sure to please even the most discerning palettes. A personal favorite of one of our members, Mr. Brasher, happens to be a Drew Estate cigar. The one and only, Kentucky Fire Cured.

They debuted their new cigar line at an event this past Saturday at the Florida Sun Grown Tobacco Farm, and although it was sold out and we were unable to attend, we are celebrating along with Jeff and his team in this important chapter in the cigar industry’s history. And we are all itching to get our hands on our first Florida Sun Grown cigar. When we finally do we’ll write a review for all of you fine gentlemen to check out.

I’ll leave several links below to articles further detailing the opening of the farm, and what Jeff’s mission and vision is for the future of his dream in central Florida.

Please check out the Drew Estate and Corona Cigar Company websites for their other fine offerings and support them with your business. They are both companies worth keeping an eye on as they continue to push the boundaries of the industry to new heights and into exciting uncharted opportunities.

Bravo, Florida Sun Grown and Drew Estate! We tip our hats to you. We hope to see you soon in the fields of Clermont, burning one down under that famous Florida sun.
